March 29, 2021Happy Holy Week!
Yesterday was Palm Sunday, the day in which we celebrate the triumphant arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem just prior to his crucifixion. Palm Sunday is always celebrated one week before Easter. At school today, each student will be given a palm frond to take home and display.
Grades 3-4-5 will have their Health Meetings on Wednesday, March 31. A yellow letter with details will be distributed to the parents/guardians of these students.
Saint Lawrence Church will have Holy Thursday Mass this week at 7:00PM.
We are off school on Good Friday, April 2. There will be a service (not a Mass) at Saint Lawrence Church at 3:00PM. Saint Mary Church also has a 3:00PM service, and Saint Francis of Assisi Church has a 12:15PM service.
The Muncie Knights of Columbus (3600 West Purdue Avenue) will host a FREE Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday, April 3. All children will receive prizes, which may include small toys, candy baskets, chocolate bunnies, and much more! Arrive by 9:45AM.
On Easter Sunday, Saint Lawrence Church has Masses at 8:00AM, 10:00AM, and 12:30PM.
We are off school on Easter Monday, April 5.
Spring Picture Day is Wednesday, April 7. All students will be photographed and receive a free photo proof. Families who wish to purchase prints will have the option of doing so. This is a Mass Day, but children may wear other dress clothes all day.
Friday, April 9, is a Casual Dress Day. We ask that each student bring one can of fruit to donate to Deacon’s Pantry.
Mark your calendars for our Skating Party on Monday, April 12, 6:00-8:00PM, at Gibson’s Arena (2610 South Mock Avenue). All SLCS and Saint Mary/JP2 students are invited. A flyer with details will be distributed next week.
It was announced over the weekend that I will be serving as principal of the unified Catholic school in Muncie starting this fall. I am excited to be a part of this ministry, and I’m looking forward to helping the school grow. Please pray for the continued success of Catholic education in Muncie.
