On Ash Wednesday (February 17) three Masses will be celebrated at Saint Lawrence Church. Our regular All-School Mass will be at 8:00AM, with additional Masses at 12:15PM and 6:30PM. Saint Francis of Assisi Church will have Masses at 7:00AM, 12:15PM, and 5:30PM. Saint Mary Church will have Masses at 8:15AM and 5:30PM. Face coverings are required at all Masses.
Since we have not cancelled any days of school so far this year, we expect to be off school on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 15. This is subject to change if we have to cancel a day before then.
Each student will receive a free yearbook this spring. Families may enter “Shout-Outs” to be printed in the yearbook at no charge. “Shout-Outs” might be something like: “Great job this year, Ronald! We love you and we’re so proud of you!” Create your “Shout Out” using the link that I emailed on February 1. If you don’t have the link, let me know and I can resend. Shout-Outs” are due Monday, March 1, and are limited to 100 characters.
Our DRIVE-THRU ONLY Dan’s Fish Fry is on Friday, March 5, at the K of C Hall from 5:00PM-8:00PM. Please plan to pitch in--it’s a fun event that benefits our school, along with Saint Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic School in Kenya! Each family will be asked to sell tickets. I’ll pass out ticket packets this week. Tickets and money should be turned in by March 3. If you lose your tickets or money, or do not turn in unsold tickets or money, the school will bill you for the value of the missing tickets.
If you can volunteer to help out before, during, or after the Fish Fry, contact P.T.O. member Aaron Fisher at theaaronmfisher@gmail.com or 765.702.5978. We need people to bread the fish, serve meals, and clean up after the dinner.
All students who go an entire month with no Discipline Slips receive a free casual day. In January, 29 of our 42 students earned the free Casual Day.
Congratulations to our January Virtues in Practice recipients! These students represented Saint Lawrence Catholic School proudly by modeling Gratitude (Seeing everything as a gift and being thankful).
“Itzzel Cazares shows gratitude for even the smallest, most common things. It is a pleasure to hear her say ‘Thank you’ many times each day!” –Miss Kline
“Since the first day of school I’ve been very impressed with how the words "Thank you" came as a natural response to being given something. It could be a response to a cup of milk she received or a compliment for her work. Itzzel never fails to thank the giver with her kind response and a beautiful smile that lights up her whole face!” –Mrs. McKinley
“Keenan Castor is very polite toward me. He always says ‘Thank you’ with expressed sincerity when I give him his lunch or when he comes to the office to pick up items for his teacher.” –Mrs. Waechter
Our February virtue is Honesty (Being trustworthy and true).
