Congratulations to our September Virtues in Practice recipients! These students represented Saint Lawrence Catholic School proudly by modeling Faith (Believing in God and all He has revealed).
“Emma Bailey is always attentive during Mass and religion class and asks good questions. She has a desire to be close to God and to believe more and more in Him, and she wants to be baptized.” –Miss Kline and Mrs. Brown
“During outside Art class, Trinity Elsworth has been making a lot of astute observations about God’s creation” –Ms. Lunsford
Our October virtue is Reverence (Showing your deepest respect for things of God).
All students who go an entire month with no Discipline Slips receive a free casual day. In September, 24 of our 43 students earned a free Casual Day.
SLCS will be on its three-day long Fall Break on October 14-15-16. We are in school on October 12 and 13. School resumes Monday, October 19.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be October 21-22. Every child should have a parent or guardian participate in a conference. Parents have three options: 1) an in-person meeting with the teacher, 2) a phone conference, or 3) a Zoom meeting. To sign up, go to www.stlawrencemuncie.org and click the green “Parent/Teacher Conferences” button.
Friday, October 23, is a Casual Dress Day. We ask that each student bring one or more packs of bath soap (no squeeze bottles) to benefit the Deacon’s Pantry.
Picture Retake Day for individual students is Wednesday, October 28. Students should wear Mass clothing (not shorts). Class pictures will also be taken on October 28. Order forms for class pictures will be sent home after Fall Break.
For “Socktober”, we’re collecting new CHILDREN’S socks, hats and gloves to donate to Muncie Mission. Items may be brought to school through October 30. Each grade level will have a basket for donations (grades 4-5 will be combined). The winning class will earn an extra recess with Mr. Frey! Also, each Friday during October, every student who has donated during the preceding week will get a piece of candy at morning gathering.
The final day to wear shorts to school (in 2020) is Friday, October 30. Shorts may be worn to school again starting Monday, March 1, 2021.
SLCS does not celebrate Halloween. Children should not wear Halloween makeup or costumes to school. All classes will celebrate All Saints Day with a party on Friday, October 30.
