Throughout the school year we will use Virtues in Practice, a program developed by the Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia. This program offers age-appropriate lessons on concepts such as Faith, Generosity, Honesty, and Mercy, and highlights the lives of numerous Saints. Each month, we’ll select students who best demonstrated the virtue being studied. To learn about Virtues in Practice, see: www.nashvilledominican.org
This Friday, August 28, is our first Casual Dress Day. We ask that each student bring one or more jars of peanut butter to benefit the Deacon’s Pantry (no glass jars, please).
Wednesday, September 2, is our first Picture Day. All students will have their picture taken, at no charge, for the hallway display board and yearbook. Families who wish to order picture packets may fill out the order form or order online. Order forms, as well as directions for online ordering, will be sent home. No family is obligated to buy pictures. For the September 2 Picture Day, students have two options regarding clothing:
Mass clothes (white polos, black dress shoes, navy pants for boys, jumpers/skirts for girls)
OR
Students who order a picture packet may wear formal clothes that are not school uniforms (dress for girls, dress shirt/tie/sport jacket for boys). Students who choose this option may wear dress clothes all day, including at Mass. Remember that heels, dangling jewelry, and makeup are never allowed
We will not be in school on Monday, September 7. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend!
Friday, September 11, is Red, White and Blue Day. At morning gathering, I’ll tell students a brief history of the U.S. flag and encourage them to share the reasons that they are proud to live in America. Students are not required to wear school uniforms-they are encouraged to wear predominantly red, white and blue. Students can wear t-shirts, sweatshirts, dresses, jeans, shorts, skirts, etc. Black shoes and white socks are not required. Casual Day dress code still applies. No hoodies, tank tops, sandals, flip-flops, boots, hats, or makeup. Skirts/shorts must extend to the top of the knee when standing. Students who don't wish to participate may wear their normal school uniforms.
