Our Dan’s Fish Fry was an overwhelming success! We served 612 meals due to the efforts of our P.T.O., school staff, school families, and our parish. THANK YOU to everyone who promoted the event, sold tickets, attended, or worked a shift. Incidentally, we served 504 meals at our 2019 Fish Fry.
Several students had artwork featured in the 4
th Annual Young Artist Exhibition at Cornerstone. Congratulation to kindergartener Emma Searcy for winning First Place in the Grades K-2 Two-Dimensional Art Category! Emma won a certificate and $50 in cash.
We are NOT participating in the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade on March 14.
Registration Packets for current families will be distributed this week. K-4 families will receive a green folder with re-enrollment information. Please fill out the green and yellow papers and turn them in with your family’s $50 registration fee by April 9. After April 9, we will allow new students to begin enrolling for 2020-2021.
This Friday, March 13, is a Casual Dress Day. We ask that each student bring one pack of baby wipes for Project Gabriel. Dollar General has a good supply of baby wipes.
This Friday, March 13, is an early-release day. Children can be picked up at 1:00PM. Any child not picked up by 1:15PM will go to After-School Care and will NOT be charged unless they stay after 3:15PM.
Saint Mary/Pope John Paul II School is having a Fish Fry this Friday, March 13. Proceeds will benefit the annual 7
th and 8
th grade Washington, D.C., trip. The Fish Fry is 5:00-7:00PM at the Muncie Knights of Columbus Hall.
Tuesday, March 17, is IREAD-3 testing for grade 3. Please promote good sleep habits and a solid breakfast so children are in their best position to perform well on the test.
Boys’ and Girls’ Track season is right around the corner! A schedule of practices and meets will be distributed soon.
Quarter 3 grade reports are scheduled to be sent home on March 18.
Both Father Hellmann and Father Williams have out-of-town commitments on March 18, so we will not have school Mass. Students should be dropped off at SLCS that morning.
SLCS is celebrating Rock Your Socks Day on Thursday, March 19! Students may wear crazy socks for a donation of $
1 per sock. Show off your wild sock combinations! Donations support the Down Syndrome Diagnosis Network.
SLCS is scheduled to be off for Spring Break starting Friday, March 20 (assuming we don’t have to cancel any days before then). We will return to school Monday, March 30.
Spring Picture Day is Wednesday, April 1. All students will be photographed and parents will receive a free photo proof. Parents who wish to purchase prints will have the option of doing so. This is a Mass Day, but children may wear other dress clothes all day that day if you prefer.
The Indiana Department of Education recently released its annual Letter Grades, rating schools based on academic performance and improvement. SLCS has been designated as an “A” school! Our school has received an “A” rating for the past nine consecutive years.
Like many priests in our diocese, Father Dave Hellmann is being reassigned. In June, he will begin his new role as Senior Associate Pastor in Alexandria/ Anderson. Coming to Muncie as our new Pastor will be Father Eric Underwood (ordained 2006), along with new Associate Pastors Father Christian DeCarlo (ordained 2018), and Father Coady Owens (ordained 2017). Our retired priest-in-residence, Father Bob Williams, intends to stay at Saint Lawrence and continue ministering to our parish and community.
