Catholic Schools Week (CSW) is January 26-February 3. We have many events planned that are designed to be fun and strengthen our faith.
The
Pizza Lunch sponsored by Father Dave (originally set for January 12) will be on Monday, January 29. Pizza and drinks will be served at no charge to families!
Our next Skating Party is Tuesday, January 30, at Gibson’s Roller Skating Arena, 2610 South Mock Avenue. The party starts at 6:00PM and ends at 8:00PM.
As a part of CSW, all SLCS families (including non-Catholic families) should plan to attend a special Mass at Saint Lawrence Church on
Saturday, February 3, at 4:30PM. Students should wear “White Shirt Wednesday” clothes and sit up front. Students will participate in readings, serving, bringing up gifts, and choir.
On the original Catholic Schools Week schedule, we planned for Father Dave to do confessions with students on Friday, February 2, at school. Father now has to be in Kokomo that morning, so confessions will be postponed until Friday, February 16. We will also move back the Examination of Conscience until Tuesday, February 13.
Our Spelling Bee will be Tuesday, February 6, in our Media Center. Parents are welcome to attend. You can park, bring your child in to school, attend a brief Morning Gathering, then head to the Bee at 8:10AM! The Bee should end by 8:45.
BOOK SALE! Our Media Center has many great books that need to find a new home. Children can purchase used books on Friday, February 9. Books will be available during each class’s Media Center time.
Books will be sold for 50¢
each or 3 for $1.00. The money will be used to purchase new books for the school.
There will be a
Saint Lawrence Catholic School All-Class Reunion on Saturday, February 24, at the Selma American Legion beginning at 7:00PM. Fried Chicken will be provided, as well as water and iced tea. Soda and adult beverages can be purchased. Please bring a covered dish and RSVP by February 17 on Facebook at: “St Lawrence All Class Reunion” or call Jim Leach 765.760.3841. Children are welcome. Bring your yearbooks, photo albums, and other memorabilia.
Each family has received
18 tickets for our upcoming Dan’s Fish Fry. Look over the enclosed forms and sell all of your tickets. This is a crucial fundraiser for us, and advanced ticket sales help a lot! Tickets and money should be turned in by February 16. If you lose your tickets or money, or do not turn in unsold tickets or money, the school will bill you for the value of the missing tickets.
If you can volunteer to help out before, during or after the Fish Fry, please contact Bryan Fortreide at
bjfortriede@bsu.edu or
765.729.2396. We need people to bread the fish, wait tables, and clean up the Knights of Columbus Hall after the dinner.
For this year’s yearbook, each family will be allowed to enter one “Shout-Out” to be printed in the yearbook at no charge. “Shout-Outs” might be something like:
“Great Job this year, Billy and Stephanie! We’re so proud of you!” All families can submit a “Shout-Out”, you do not necessarily have to purchase a yearbook.
“Shout-Outs” must be submitted by March 1. Limit 100 characters. I sent an email to all families on January 23 with a link than can be used to type your message.
We need to keep selling tickets to our
Mystery Dinner and Auction on February 9!
Student Council is now collecting donations for the Muncie Mission’s
Walk a Mile in My Shoes. Please bring in cash donations (any amount) to the office. We will collect donations until Friday, February 9, at 10:00AM.
