Are your Christmas decorations still up? If so, GOOD FOR YOU! The Christmas season officially ends at the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord, which is Sunday, January 10.
Students in grades 1-2-3-4-5 will participate in classroom Spelling Bees this Thursday, January 7. The school-wide Spelling Bee, featuring the top two spellers from each grade, will be on Tuesday, February 9.
Quarter 2 grade reports will be sent home on or before Tuesday, January 12.
Friday, January 15, is an eLearning Day. Students should not come to school, they will complete and submit their work digitally.
There is no school on Monday, January 18 (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day).
Friday, January 22, is a Casual Dress Day. We ask that each student bring one box of oatmeal or Jiffy Mix to donate to Deacon’s Pantry.
If our school day is delayed or cancelled, I will communicate with families via text and post a message on WLBC 104.1FM (wlbc.com/delays-and-closings). I will make every effort to do this before 6:00AM. Do not assume that we will delay or cancel based on what other local schools do. If you have not been contacted by me and no message is posted on WLBC, we are starting school at the regular time.
All students who go an entire month with no Discipline Slips receive a free casual day. In December, 34 of our 42 students earned the free Casual Day.
Just prior to Christmas Break, each girl in our school was given a white hair bow with “Saint Lawrence Catholic School” printed on it. We thank Antonia Cuatlacuatl (Zoe’s mother) for making these beautiful bows!
Congratulations to our December Virtues in Practice recipients! These students represented Saint Lawrence Catholic School proudly by modeling Generosity (Giving without counting the cost).
“Emma Searcy is generous with her recess time. I often see her give up playing with her classmates so that she can be with a Kindergartener who didn't have someone to play with. She is very kind to her and she makes the little girl feel special.” –Mrs. McKinley
“Jonah Harrell constantly shares and gives throughout the year, without any teachers telling him to. One day, on the playground, he gave his jacket to his little brother because he was cold. Another day, I watched him give some of the candy he received to another student. He has been willingly generous throughout my few months of knowing him.” –Miss Liz
Our January virtue is Gratitude (Seeing everything as a gift and being thankful).
