As we battle cold and flu season, please refrain from sending child(ren) to school if they are displaying symptoms of illness. Children should not come to school if they have a fever. Temperature should be below 100°F for 24 hours,
without medication, before returning. Also, children must be free from vomiting and/or diarrhea for 24 hours.
Our biennial Science Fair is this Thursday, January 16. All students will participate, and projects will be judged by a panel of judges. After school on January 16, parents and family members are encouraged to come and see the displays.
Grades 3-4-5 will participate in a Lector Workshop on January 17, 11:50-12:20. This will help students improve their Mass reading skills. Miss Kline will lead the workshop.
We will celebrate our 100
th Day of School on Friday, January 17. Our grade 5 students will be celebrating their 1,000
th Day of School since the start of Kindergarten!
Our next Movie Night is this Friday, January 17, 3:15-5:30PM. We will be showing Disney’s
Aladdin (2019 release). A blue registration sheet with details has been sent home. Forms and payment are due Friday by 9:00AM.
There is no school on Monday, January 20, due to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Friday, January 24, is a Casual Dress Day. We ask that each student bring one box of oatmeal, corn meal, or Jiffy Mix to donate to Deacon’s Pantry. This is an early-release day. Children can be picked up at 1:00PM. Any child not picked up by 1:15PM will go to After-School Care and will NOT be charged unless they stay after 3:15PM.
Catholic Schools Week (CSW) is January 24-February 1. I will pass out green schedules soon. Please review the schedule very carefully, as we have special drop-off and pick-up instructions, as well as daily special dress days. All SLCS families should plan to attend a special CSW Mass at Saint Lawrence Church on Saturday, February 1, arrive by 4:15PM.
Our Student Council will participate in the Walk a Mile in My Shoes event organized by the Muncie Mission. The event will be held on the morning of Saturday, February 8. All staff, students, and families are invited to participate.
Our next Skating Party is Monday, January 27, at Gibson’s Skating Arena, from 6:00 - 8:00PM. Children do not have to be current Saint Lawrence students to attend.
Student Council is sponsoring “Penny Battles” to benefit the Muncie Mission’s Walk a Mile in My Shoes, as well as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Children should bring in coins and/or cash donations (any amount) to their classroom teacher. We will collect donations starting January 24 and ending on Thursday, February 6, at 9:00AM.
Our next P.T.O. meeting will be Monday, February 3, 6:30-7:30PM at the school.
Mark your calendar for our Dan’s Fish Fry on Friday, March 6. I will be passing out tickets for each family to sell in the coming days. Tickets and money are due no later than Friday, February 28. We will also need quite a few volunteers to help at the event. Please plan to pitch in--it’s a fun event that benefits our school!
Our school held the annual National Geographic Geography Bee on January 9. Congratulations to Alexandra Folker (Champion), Attara Duke (Second Place), and Eli Hart (Third Place).
