SAFETY NOTICE: We’ve had a recurring issue lately with students climbing the restroom stalls. The teachers and I have warned the student body repeatedly about the physical danger inherent in climbing and swinging on the stalls and doors. Please reinforce this message at home so we can avoid any serious injuries.
This week, each SLCS student will be given a roll of Christmas wrapping paper and a roll of Scotch tape to take home. We’re doing this to encourage our students to be thinking about what they will be giving to others this Christmas. The wrapping paper and tape are free of charge; they were donated to our school.
Midterm grade reports will be sent home on Thursday, November 21.
Our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive will run November 18-22. This drive will benefit Deacon’s Pantry, and the class that donates the most food will earn a popcorn and movie party on November 26. An orange flyer with details will be sent home today.
Friday, November 22, is a Casual Dress Day. We ask that each student bring one bottle of ketchup or one bottle of mustard (no glass) to donate to Deacon’s Pantry.
November 22 is an early-release day. Children can be picked up at 1:00PM. Any child not picked up by 1:15PM will go to After-School Care and will NOT be charged unless they stay after 3:15PM. The topic for our staff training session will be Youth Suicide Prevention. If you would like to attend, please let me know by tomorrow (November 14). The training is 1:15-3:15PM and is offered free of charge.
We will have school on Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, with Mass on Tuesday, November 26. Children should wear Mass Clothes on November 26. Thanksgiving Break is November 27-28-29. School resumes on Monday, December 2.
Make plans to attend
Preparing Our Hearts for Christmas, a recital by Matthew and Kelci Kosin and friends, on Sunday, December 8, 3:00PM, at Saint Lawrence Church. Matthew and Kelci are talented vocalists and the parents of one of our students. The recital will feature our Children’s Choir and several other skilled performers. There is no admission charge, but a free-will offering will be collected to benefit our school.
Our Advent Program is Wednesday, December 11, from 6:00-7:00PM at the school. All students will have a role in the program; so plan to attend with the whole family!
Thank you, gentlemen, for being a part of Donuts for Dads last week. We had a nice turnout! We will do a similar event for ladies, Breakfast with Moms, on May 4, 2020.
Our Socktober sock drive was a huge success! Around 334 pairs of socks were donated to the Muncie Mission (last year was 258). Congratulations to Dakota and Sara for winning the prizes!
