We’ve had a number of
new students enroll for 2019-2020 recently. If you know of anyone who plans to apply for admission, encourage them to do so sooner rather than later. It’s looking like our Kindergarten class will be filled before too long.
The
Committee for Integrity Enhancement selected two of our students as essay contest winners this year. Eli and Brooklynn were chosen among the 27 winners in Delaware County. There were 512 students in the elementary essay contest.
Midterm grade reports will be sent home tomorrow.
In observance of
Good Friday, we will not be in session this Friday. We encourage everyone to attend the Good Friday Service at Saint Lawrence Church at 3:00PM.
The Muncie Knights of Columbus will host a
FREE Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday at their facility (3600 West Purdue Avenue). Be there by 9:45AM.
Due to school being canceled on January 31,
we will be in session on Monday, April 22.
Grades 3-4-5 will begin ILEARN (formerly ISTEP+) testing soon. Make sure your children get plenty of sleep and a nice breakfast during the testing window (April 22-May 17).
Grades 3-4-5 will participate in our annual
Religion Bee on April 23, 12:15-1:15PM. Parents and family members are welcome to attend.
Our annual
Spring Concert and Art Show will be Monday, April 30 (5:30-6:45PM). All students will participate in the concert and have artwork on display. Please plan to attend with your children, and invite extended family and friends to this free event.
We are taking an all-school trip to the Indianapolis Zoo on Thursday, May 2. We will take a chartered bus. The bus will leave SLCS around 7:45AM and return around 4:00PM.
Breakfast with Moms is May 7 (not May 14). Join us in the cafeteria and have free breakfast with your child(ren). This is open to any woman who serves as a positive role model to our students. Women are encouraged to stay for morning gathering (8:05-8:15AM) to see how we begin each day with scripture and prayer. We will do May Crowning of Our Blessed Mother as well. Doors open at 7:15AM, event will end by 8:30AM.
Make plans now to attend
Spring Fling on May 10, 5:30-7:00PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall. This is a wonderful free event that will feature a student Talent Show. We will do a few raffles and have an “Experiences Auction.”
Our annual
Sports Awards are Monday, May 13, 6:00-7:00PM at school. This event is open to the families of any student who played a team sport at SLCS this year. Our P.T.O. will be providing pulled pork sandwiches and hot dogs. Each family should bring their own drinks and a side dish to share.
Our P.T.O. is in need of a few officers for next school year. Please contact Mr. Frey if you are interested. The next
P.T.O. meeting is Wednesday, May 15, 6:00-7:00PM at the school.
Grades 4-5 will take a trip to an
Indianapolis Indians game on Thursday, May 16. We will leave at 8:30AM and return to school around 3:00PM. There will be no cost to students, free lunch will be provided at Victory Field. Students should wear grey PE t-shirts and jeans, along with any color shoes.
Our final Skating Party of the school year will be Thursday, May 16 (not May 7) at Gibson’s. Party is 6:00-8:00PM.
BSU Healthy Kids Day (formerly KIDZ Marathon) is Saturday, May 18, 9:00-11:00AM at Ball State University’s Recreation and Wellness Center. Parents should plan to attend with their children, arrive by 8:40AM. The kids have been preparing all year in PE!
The
Indiana Writing Project is hosting a Summer Writing Camp at Ball State in June. The camp is open to students entering grades 3-12 in the fall. Cost of the week-long camp is $125. If interested, contact Matthew Hartman at

This fall, our school will need a new
Library volunteer. This person would come in one morning each week, preferably Thursday or Friday, to read to children. Other tasks include helping children select books, checking out books, and supervising children while they read. If you or anyone you know would like to learn more, please contact Mr. Frey.

Instructional Assistant. This is a full-time, paid position. Main duties will be assisting classroom teachers with lessons and working with students individually. A teaching license is NOT required. If you or anyone you know would like to learn more, please contact Mr. Frey.
This fall, our school will need a new
Food Service Coordinator (FSC). This is a paid position that typically requires 12-13 hours per week. The FSC is NOT required to cook meals or generate the menu. The FSC’s primary duties include picking up meals from Muncie Central High School and working with volunteers to serve meals to our students. Other duties include maintaining accurate records and complying with food service regulations. Basic computer skills are required. Our long-time FSC, Karen Albertson, is willing to train the new FSC and assist them as they learn the job. If you or anyone you know would like to learn more, please contact Mr. Frey.
