Donuts for Dads is tomorrow (Thursday). Join us in the cafeteria and have free breakfast with your child(ren). This event is open to any man who serves as a positive role model to our students. Men are encouraged to stay for morning gathering (8:05-8:15AM) to see how we begin each day with scripture and prayer. Doors open at 7:15AM. We will do a similar event for ladies, Breakfast with Moms, on May 14, 2019.
Our annual
Veterans Day Dinner is this Friday! Please encourage family, friends and neighbors to come, and volunteer to help with serving, cleanup, etc.
Our next
Skating Party is Tuesday, November 13, at Gibson’s Skating Arena, 2610 South Mock Avenue (a few blocks from school) from 6:00 - 8:00PM. All are welcome, children do not have to be current Saint Lawrence students to attend.
A green order form for school uniforms was sent home last week with each child. You may order
long-sleeved polo shirts and grey jackets on this form, as well as other items. If you need an adult sized polo shirt, see Mrs. Waechter for availability. Order forms and payment (cash, check or card) are due by Wednesday, November 14.
Next Friday, November 16, is a Casual Dress Day. We ask that each student bring
one bottle of ketchup or one bottle of mustard (no glass) to donate to Deacon’s Pantry.
November 16 is an
early-release day. Children can be picked up at 1:00PM. Any child not picked up by 1:15PM will go to After-School Care and will NOT be charged unless they stay after 3:15PM.
We will have school on Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, with Mass on Tuesday.
Thanksgiving Break is November 21-23. School resumes Monday, November 26.
On the original Boys Basketball schedule, I mistakenly listed the November 15 contest as a 5:00PM Scrimmage. This is actually a game that begins at 3:30PM at Saint Lawrence. Also, our Scrimmage versus Inspire Academy has been moved to 3:30PM on November 19.
If your child is going to be absent,
please call the office as early as possible in the morning. Also, if you need to
pick up your child early, call the office in advance. This helps the teacher have homework ready and is far less disruptive to the class.
Students in grades 4-5 visited the Owsley Museum of Art on Monday. Each child was given a
new free Ball State t-shirt, compliments of Laura Helms. Ms. Helms is a BSU employee and generous supporter of Saint Lawrence Catholic School.
Our Socktober sock drive was a success! Around
258 pairs of socks were donated to the Muncie Mission. Congratulations to Ariella J. and Eli H. for winning Sock Monkey Hats!
This week we began a new initiative called the
Happy Plate Club. This program will promote wellness by encouraging students to eat all of their lunch. Your child may be given a small prize each week for cleaning their plate! All students, including those who order Chartwell’s lunch and those who pack a lunch, are eligible to participate.
If you’d like a
Saint Lawrence bumper sticker, stop by the office and pick up a free one.
Under our new Code of Student Conduct, all students who go an entire month with no Discipline Slips, Tardy Slips, or Dress Code violations will receive a
free casual day. In October, 26 of our 60 students earned the free Casual Day.
Over the next few days, we will complete the
free hearing screenings for all students. The screening will be done by Rachel Busing, Speech Therapist from Muncie Community Schools. If a hearing impairment with your child is detected, you’ll be notified in writing.
