  • The Divisional Track meet scheduled for today has been postponed until tomorrow (Thursday) at Southside Middle School. We’ll have track practice at SLCS today, 4:30-5:30PM.

 

  • Due to low temperatures forecasted for tomorrow, the trip to Conner Prairie (grades 1-2 and some kindergarteners) has been postponed until next Thursday, April 26. We will return to school around 4:30PM that day.

 

  • This Friday, April 20, is a Casual Dress Day. We ask that each student bring at least one pack of dried fruit or raisins to school to donate to the Food Pantry.

 

  • This Friday, April 20, is an early-release day. Children will be dismissed at 1:00 and can be picked up at that time. Any child not picked up by 1:15 will go to After-School Care, but they will not be charged a fee as long as they are picked up by 3:15. Any child not picked up by 3:15 will be charged. Once in After-School Care, students may stay until 5:30 (the regular end time for After-School Care).

 

  • Our annual Health Meetings will take place on Monday, April 23. These meetings are for boys in grades 4-5 and girls in grades 3-4-5.

 

  • Grades 4/5 will take a trip to an Indianapolis Indians game on Tuesday, April 24. We will leave at 8:30AM and return to school around 3:00PM. There will be no cost to students, free lunch will be provided at Victory Field. Students should wear grey PE t-shirts and jeans, along with any color shoes.

 

  • Next week’s City Track meet at Muncie Central will be Wednesday, April 25 (not Tuesday). Please excuse my error on the original schedule. We’ll have Track practice at SLCS on Tuesday from 4:30-5:30PM.

 

  • No school on Friday, April 27. This was a Makeup Day that we did not use.

 

  • Our annual Spring Concert and Art Show will be Monday, April 30 (6:00-7:30PM). All students will participate in the concert and have artwork on display. Students may take their artwork home with them. Please plan to attend with your children, and invite extended family and friends to this free event.

 

  • On Thursday, May 3, Cathie Bledsoe will be leading a parent discussion on Child Internet Safety. The free event will be at Saint Mary School in Alexandria (820 West Madison Street) at Zimmer Hall beginning at 6:30PM.

 

  • There will be an Open House to honor Mrs. Brinson for her 41½ years of service to our school on Sunday, May 20. The Open House will be in our school gymnasium from 11:15AM-2:00PM. Refreshments will be served, please plan to attend.

 

  • We’re trying something new for our final Movie Night of the year. On May 4, our Movie Night will begin at 3:15PM and end at 5:30PM. The charge to attend Movie Night will be $8, which includes admission, a drink, and a popsicle. Nachos will be sold for an additional charge. Students who register and pay for Movie Night will NOT be charged for After-School Care on that day. We’re hoping that this new approach will allow more students to participate.

 

  • Make plans now to attend Spring Fling on May 11, 5:30-8:00PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall. This is a wonderful free event that will feature a student Talent Show. We will do a few raffles and auction classroom projects.

 

  • Breakfast with Moms will be Tuesday, May 15 (not May 1).

 

  • The Sacrament Class Picnic will be held on Wednesday, May 16, at Memorial Park in New Castle. This includes all grade 1 and 2 students. The group will go to Mass at church with everyone else, then come to school, then leave for New Castle around 10:00 am. They will return to school by 3:00. Mrs. Brinson will be sharing details.

 

  • YMCA KIDZ Marathon is Saturday, May 19, 9:00-11:00AM at Ball State University’s Recreation and Wellness Center. Parents should plan to attend with their children, please arrive by 8:40AM. The children have been preparing for this all year in PE!

 

  • We have discount admission coupons for Kings Island in the office. Pick some up if you or someone you know plans to visit Kings Island before October 28, 2018.

 

  • We’ve had a number of new students enroll for 2018-2019 recently. If you know of anyone who plans to apply, encourage them to do so sooner rather than later.

 

  • Over the next few weeks, I’ll begin interviewing candidates for our open teaching positions for 2018-2019. If you know of anyone who may be interested, encourage them to apply at: stlawrencemuncie.org >> Staff >> Employment Application

 

  • We have a wide range of greeting cards for sale in the office. There are Thank You cards, Birthday cards, Sympathy cards, and blank cards in many styles. Boxes of cards are $3 each, and all money goes to our Tuition Assistance Fund.
